How to choose the right photo for an AI meme video
The photo decides most of the result. Here is what makes a photo work well for AI meme video templates — and what to avoid.
Nov 4, 2026 · viralmeme team
Every viralmeme template keeps the motion, scene and camera of its template video. Your photo decides who appears in it. A good photo is the single biggest factor in a good result.
What works best
- One person. Templates are made for a single subject. Group photos confuse the result.
- Clear face and body. Head and upper body at least; full body is better for dance templates.
- Good, even light. Daylight near a window beats a dark room or a strong backlight.
- Natural pose, facing the camera. You don't need to match the template pose — the motion comes from the template.
- A sharp photo. At least 300 px on each side, ideally much more. JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB.
What to avoid
- Sunglasses, masks, hats that hide the face, or hands in front of the face.
- Heavy beauty filters and stylised edits.
- Very small subjects far from the camera.
- Very wide or very tall crops — keep it close to portrait or square.
Only use photos you have the right to use
Upload photos of yourself or a friend who agreed. Do not upload photos of other people without their consent, and never photos of minors that you are not the parent or guardian of.
Quick checklist
- One subject, clearly visible.
- Face not covered.
- Bright and sharp.
- Portrait or square crop.
